Miracles Can Happen

Richard Roberts

One day, when Jesus was in the city of Cana, a nobleman from Capernaum went to see Him (see John 4:46–54 TLB). The nobleman’s son was at home, deathly ill, and he begged the Lord to come and heal his child. Instead of going with him, Jesus asked, “Won’t any of you believe in me unless I do more and more miracles?” Ignoring the question, the nobleman pleaded with Him, “Sir, please come now before my child dies.”

Jesus saw that the man had faith, and He also knew there was no distance in prayer. He said, “Go back home. Your son is healed!” And the man believed Jesus and started home.

When Jesus’ Word is mixed with faith, it can cause a miracle to happen. The nobleman knew that his son’s life was hanging in the balance. Everything hinged upon whether or not he believed the Lord. He believed the words of Jesus, and he turned around and started home.

Before he got there, some of his servants met him with the news that his son had recovered! He asked them when the boy started to feel better, and they replied, “Yesterday afternoon at about one o’clock his fever suddenly disappeared!” (v. 52). That was the exact moment when Jesus had told him. “Your son is healed.”

Just like that father, when you and I choose to believe the words of Jesus no matter what we see, miracles can happen in our lives!
