From the archives of Oral Roberts – Third of three parts
Once when I was preaching on how to find your depth, I asked the congregation to ask God what their depth was. I was stressing the necessity of trusting God to impress upon each person his depth.
A week later a man said, “Brother Roberts, I’ve got to talk to you. When you told us to do that I had three $100 bills in my wallet. I reached for my wallet, took out $100, and laid it on the platform as my depth when the Lord checked me. I picked up the second $100 bill, and again the Lord checked me. I picked up the third $100 bill, and I knew that was my depth.”
“I looked around,” he continued, “and my wife was writing a check. We had a serious problem because the company she worked for was about to be closed. My wife didn’t even know if she’d have a job. And there she was, writing a check to place on the platform.”
“My daughter had been trying to get a settlement for a car accident. The car was demolished, and there were many injuries and hospital bills. She was trying to get a just settlement that both she and the insurance company could live with. My daughter went to the platform with my son-in-law, who had been out of work for three months, walking the streets, trying to find a job. All four of us laid a seed-gift of our depth on the platform.”
“At the end of the week, a man laid in my hand seven $100 bills. Not only was my wife’s company saved, but she received a promotion. The insurance company offered my daughter more than she had asked and wrote her a check. My son-in-law now has a better job than he thought he’d ever get.”
I saw this man a month later, and he told me, “Brother Roberts, we are a changed family. We now know to give our depth, to wait until we feel the Lord dealing with us in our hearts.”
