I have seen the Lord do wonderful things in people’s lives when they put themselves in a position to receive. He can literally transform us if we want to be transformed. I have seen the glory of God change people from the inside out until they actually look different.
I’ll never forget a precious young woman who attended one of our conferences several years ago. She was about sixteen years old, and she came in at the beginning of the conference with a heavy spirit on her. You could just see in her face and in her attitude that she was under terrible oppression.
I happened to be wearing a hat during one of the first services, and the Lord told me to take it off and give it to her. When I did I also laid hands on her and prayed, and it was as though someone lifted a cloak of oppression off of her!
Over the next few services, I saw such a change in her! At first I wondered, “Am I just imagining it?” But I went back and watched the videotapes, and in every service she got a little brighter. She sat up a little straighter and started acting a little more enthusiastic. Then the power of God hit her! By the end of the conference, it was as though she had been transformed from one person into another!
Second Corinthians 3:18 NIV says, “And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord\’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” We don’t have to try and transform ourselves. The Bible says it’s the Spirit of the Lord who transforms us! We just need to put ourselves in a position to receive!
