Richard Roberts
Some people might think that because I am the son of a famous evangelist like Oral Roberts, it would make my walk with God easier.
But while it has been a tremendous privilege to follow in my dad’s footsteps, I had to come to God on my own.
It didn’t matter how many generations of preachers were in my family or that my mother and daddy were both saved. Until I confessed my sins and accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior, I did not have my own relationship with God.
John 1:12 NIV tells us, To all who received him [Jesus], to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. You could say it this way: God has no grandchildren ― only sons and daughters. We must all accept Jesus for ourselves, not rely on the faith of our parents or other people. When we receive the salvation God offers, we become His child with all the rights and privileges of a child.
