Have you ever thought about the importance of cooperating with God in order to bring about the miracle you need? When God promised Abraham a son in his old age, Abraham’s faith in God’s promise caused him to cooperate: And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither at the deadness of Sarah’s womb: he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith (Romans 4:19–20).
In faith, Abraham and Sarah obeyed God, and God worked the miracle. Sarah conceived and gave birth to the promised son. But the miracle required the cooperation of Abraham and Sarah. I believe that God wants to do miracles in our lives, but it requires action on our part. You see, without God we cannot; but without us, He will not.
Faith is not sitting alone in the dark with your arms folded, waiting for God to do something. Faith is doing something ― cooperating with God. Think about the farmer who puts seed in the ground. That seed begins to sprout. Soon it grows into a bountiful harvest. Can the farmer take credit for the harvest? No. God designed the plan, but unless the farmer sows the seed, there will be no harvest. It is a cooperative effort. The farmer plants the seed, and God brings the harvest.
We’ve got to do our part. If you want God to operate in your life, you must cooperate with Him. It’s the natural and the supernatural coming together. When you do what you can do in faith, believing, God can work wonders in your life!
