Richard Roberts – First of five parts
Yesterday, in America, we celebrated Independence Day, and the subject of freedom is on many of our minds. This is perhaps the main time of the year when we as Americans remind ourselves of what it means to be free.
The Bible has this to say about freedom:
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:36).”
You can live in America, or any other free, democratic nation, and still not be free in your spirit. On the other hand, you can live in the most oppressive country, under the most wicked dictator, but have freedom in your spirit if you have Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord. The freedom that God gives is the only true and lasting freedom we can ever know.
Are you free today in your spirit? You can be. If you have never received Jesus into your life, I invite you to do so today. There’s no better time than now to be truly free! Will you pray with me right now?
Heavenly Father, I ask You today to set me free in my spirit. I know that I’m tied up on the inside with guilt over my past sins. I recognize that I am a sinner and that I need Your forgiveness. I accept what Jesus Christ did on the Cross ― giving up His life and taking on my sins so that I might be free of sin and live with You forever. Please forgive me of my sins right now and cleanse my life of them forever. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to live my life in a way that is pleasing to You. I pray this in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
