There’s a great question being asked across our nation today, and it’s this: Is God relevant or am I the center of the universe?
Some humanist theories devoid of God will tell you that we human beings are the center of life and that God has no relevance. I’m here to proclaim to you today that God is relevant! Furthermore, without Him we can do nothing of our own power that counts for eternity.
God is relevant to the lost soul. No man can save himself from sin, cleanse his own heart, or fill himself with the Holy Spirit. Salvation is a free gift of God, given to us when we repent. There’s nothing we can do in our humanity to earn it, achieve it or win it. (See Ephesians 2:8–9.)
God is relevant to the lost city. The Bible says that “Except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain” (Psalm 127:1). No city council, co city police force, no city fathers can save a lost city. Only the power of God flowing through that city can truly cleanse it of crime, poverty, and destruction.
God is relevant to the lost nation. The Bible says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12). No federal agency, no task force, no branch of the military, no law of the land can save a nation that turns its back on God. According to the Bible, only the Lord can truly build up a nation from the inside out and turn it from destruction to prosperity.
It’s not really a matter of whether God is relevant, but whether we choose to make ourselves relevant to Him…and to receive His forgiveness, His Holy Spirit, His prosperity, His wisdom, and His miracles! John the Baptist had it right when he said, “A man can receive nothing [good from God], except it be given him from heaven” (John 3:27). Let’s put ourselves into position today to receive from God as we make Him relevant to our lives―the Lord of our lives.
