Richard Roberts – Second of two parts
Learn how to spend time with people who are strong in the Lord. Spend time with people that love Jesus.
Weak friends will lead you in the ways of the world; strong friends will lead you to the Bible. Weak friends will lead you to the bottle; strong friends will lead you to the Bible. Weak friends will lead you to the horoscope; strong friends will lead you to the Holy Ghost. Weak friends will lead you to liquor, strong friends will lead you to the Lord. Weak friends will teach you how to hang out; strong friends will teach you how to hold on. Weak friends will take you to drugs; strong friends will take you to the Deliverer. Weak friends will take you to the palm reader; strong friends will take you to the Psalm writer.
These aren’t just words. This is a recipe of how to make it through your weak days. Learn how to stand on the promises of God. Believe God’s promises. Believe His promises of salvation. He said, “If you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (see Romans 10:9˗10).”
Believe God’s promise of eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved (John 3:16˗17).
Believe God’s promise of abundance. He said, I am come that they [you] might have life and that they [you] might have it more abundantly (John 10:10). Believe God’s promise of prosperity. He said, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth (3 John 2).
