Did you ever watch the Road Runner cartoons? I used to love the Wile E. Coyote character because no matter how far he fell or what fell on him, in the next scene he’s standing up! We ought to be like that. No matter what happens to us, in the next scene we’re standing up! Sometimes situations in this life try to roll right over the top of us, leaving us feeling as flat as a pancake.
I know exactly what that’s like. And even though the devil has tried to defeat me time and time again, I’ve refused to surrender to him. I’ve made a decision that I’m going to resist the devil and stand for what God stands for. I’ve decided to honor the Lord, no matter what the cost.
You may be facing a battle of your faith today. Trouble, despair, discouragement, confusion, defeat―all of these things may be trying to roll over you. But you don’t have to surrender. You can make a faith-filled decision that the gates of hell are not going to prevail against you (Matthew 16:18). And when you take a stand for the Lord, you can expect Him to take a stand for you.
