Many people are struggling under loads of guilt today, whether it be from offenses, unforgiveness, bitterness, or something else.
David, the Bible says, was carrying a heavy load of guilt after Nathan, the prophet, pointed out his sins of adultery and murder. The Bible also says that David repented. He prayed:
Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness…. Cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight….
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow….Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. (See Psalm 51 NKJV.)
David repented and prayed, and God delivered him from the guilt. And it is said of David in the Bible that he was a man after God’s own heart. David talked about creating in him a clean heart, and God cleaned up that situation.
I’m so glad Scripture states, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (I John 1:9 NKJV).
Today, you can choose to release any guilt you have to God as David did and be set free!
