Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth – 3 John 2
I love this verse because it tells exactly how God feels about you. First of all, it tells you God cares so much about you that He calls you His beloved. And secondly, it tells you God has three great wishes for your life. He wants you to prosper; spiritually, physically, and financially.
Now the devil has three great wishes for you, too. He is the great counterfeiter. Whatever God has, the devil tries to imitate, and the devil’s imitations are always bad. John 10:10 says, “The thief [or devil] cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” Sickness, sin, financial problems, emotional struggles, discouragement, and family problems are all the work of the devil.
But thank God for the rest of the verse in John 10:10! Jesus said that He came that you might have life and that you might have it more abundantly. And that abundant life includes God’s three great wishes for you ―the salvation of your soul, health for your body, and prosperity in your finances.
