For God loved us so much that He gave His only begotten Son — not a baby born every Christmas and dying every Easter — but a Savior, the Bible says, for He would save His people from their sins.
God did not send Jesus into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved (John 3:16˗17). Jesus is the reason for this season.
There is a lot of excitement about Christmas. Our children still get excited and can hardly wait for Christmas morning. There is nothing wrong with that. That’s a wonderful thing and our family will be together. We will be praying over prayer requests, and it is a wonderful time.
But let us not forget the reason for the reason. The reason is Jesus. He is the one to whom we honor. He is the one to whom we give the praise and the glory. My resolution this year is that I want to be closer to God. I want to be in the presence of His angels. I want more of God in my life.
The world has reduced Christmas to so much activity and goings-on that some say this is the loneliest time of the year. It’s a fact that more suicides happen at this time of year.
But this is the time of year that God can turn it all around! This is not the time for you to feel rejected; this is the time for you to feel accepted. This is not the time for you to feel denied; this is the time for you to feel like God sent a Savior—just what He called His Son, Jesus—to save you. Save you from what? Jesus came to save you from destruction, from problems in your family… in your health… in your finances…in your marriage. For unto you a child is born, a Savior, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).
You must recognize that this is not a time for you to feel sad, lonely, or without because you don’t have presents or you didn’t have enough tinsel on your tree. It’s a time for you to realize you need a Savior in your life — a Savior to save you from whatever it is you’re going through right now that is separating you from God. This is the time to realize Jesus was born for YOU, for your life…for everything you need. JESUS IS THERE FOR YOU!
