I have read the four Gospels–Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John–and the book of Acts, hundreds of times. They are the only source of original information about Jesus ever published. It sets my soul aflame to read about Jesus as the Messiah in Matthew, the Wonder-Worker in Mark, the Son of Man in Luke, the Son of God in John, and the Holy Spirit in Acts.

Christ is the heart and central theme of the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation, the entire message revolves around the person and works of Jesus Christ. All things reveal Him and point to Him. When God spoke the world into existence, Jesus Christ was there. When time had its beginning, Jesus was there. The Scripture declares, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God, and the Word was God…And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us (John 1:1,14).

When you read the Bible, you’re reading Jesus. He is talking, and you are listening. It is a living interchange. You’re taking Him into your being. You are learning to think and act the way God does and to know the Holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus (2Timothy 3:15 NKJV).

If you want excitement and spice in your life, pick up the Bible and read about Jesus. It’s a real page-turner! The joy of His presence and personality can cause you to say with the prophet Jeremiah: Your word [is] to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart (Jeremiah 15:16 NKJV)!
