There’s a wonderful Scripture in Psalm 37:5 that says, Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. Trusting in God means completely committing yourself to Him.
An outstanding pilot said that his greatest problem in learning to fly was learning to rest his full weight on the seat of the plane. On his first solo flight he did a terrible job. He brought the plane down to a wobbly landing. His instructor ran out to meet him and asked, “What’s the matter?”
He said, “I had to confess that when I was alone, the sky seemed so big and the plane so small that I was afraid to sit down and trust my full weight to the plane.”
“Get back in that cockpit,” the instructor told me. “Sit down. Put your full weight on that seat. Relax. Do what I’ve taught you and that plane will fly itself.”
The pilot said it was marvelous what a difference that advice made in his flying.
Many times when we come to a crisis we want to trust God, but we are gripped with fear, afraid to rest the full weight of our cares on Him. So we wobble along without finding answers.
The Word tells us to trust in God. This means resting in Jesus, settling down in the broad arms of faith, and committing yourself, cares and all, to Him. Try it, and see what a difference it can make in solving your problems!
