Anything Is Possible to Him Who Believes

Richard RobertsFirst of two parts

In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formed empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. — Genesis 1:1

Going back to the original Hebrew language, you will find there is an indication that this is a picture of God not unlike a mother eagle, hovering or brooding over her eggs, waiting for them to hatch. This was the picture of God as He looked over His creation, which was formless and void. It’s an example of a sensitive, caring, and loving Holy Spirit. This is His creative nature.

The way He works to give new birth in Christ to every person who will call upon His name is seen both in the creation and by analogy. It’s also an illustration of the anointing power of the Holy Spirit when He comes upon us and when He covers an individual with God’s energy. I’m often asked the question, “What is the anointing of the Holy Spirit?” I first noticed the look of the anointing in my father’s eyes. You could almost see the moment when the power of God hit him. He would seem to be praying so intimately with his eyes closed, and suddenly, his eyes would open and become almost glassy.

Do you know that Holy Ghost divine energy that comes upon you and separates you from yourself? It fills you with God’s presence so much that when you speak, it’s like God speaking, and when you act, it’s like God acting.

The anointing of God comes upon and covers an individual with God’s energy, which is often expressed in the terms of warmth or fire. When you feel God’s touch, oftentimes you notice a warmth. When I am anointed, I am like a different human being. The anointing supernaturally empties you of doubt, and you are ready to believe anything God shows you because anything is possible to him who believes!
