When Peter stepped over the side of the boat in the raging storm on the Sea of Galilee and his foot touched the tossing waves, Matthew 14:29 says, “he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.” Peter captured a magic moment. I’m not talking about magic the way the world talks about it. It’s not make-believe. It’s not mere wishing. I’m talking about magic moments that happen in your relationship with the Lord because of an act of faith.
It’s a magic moment when somehow during a situation that is engulfing you, you reach out with your faith and touch the Power that spins the universe and miraculous things start happening for you.
One moment Peter’s hands were being torn from the oars of the boat as it pitched in the violent waves. He was crying, “I’m not going to make it! I’m going under!” The next moment those things didn’t matter. By the force of his will, Peter squared his shoulders and, as an act of his faith, said to himself, “That’s Jesus out there in the middle of this storm. That’s His voice calling me to come. I can leave this sinking boat and get to something more solid and sure by going on the water to Jesus. I am going to make it!”
That was a magic moment. And they are possible for everyone. Magic moments are made possible when you do what Peter did. He used the little faith he had to walk on the water. You may feel as though you have only a small amount of faith. But the main thing is to use the faith you have. Put it to work. When you do, you’ll be amazed at how determined faith can help you walk on the water of life’s storms and get you through your struggles!
