There are two inescapable facts of life. First, your faith in God will be tried. Your love and your commitment to Him will be tested. My wife’s sister once asked me, “Oral, why, when we give ourselves to God, do these trials come? I said, “Because there is a devil in this world, and he’s against you.” Every day of your life, where you live, work, or play, you will be called upon to exercise your faith in God or to compromise what you believe.
The second inescapable fact of life is that you will be tempted to compromise. You may be in a situation right now where you’re suffering and you’re tempted to do something that would compromise your integrity with God. If you compromise, you will lose what you compromise to get. But if you refuse to compromise―no matter how bleak the circumstances look―God is there to give you strength and to help your faith hold steady.
Something in the Bible may leap out at you like III John 2 did to Evelyn and me before God led us into the healing ministry. We were discouraged, but when we read, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prosperth, it changed our lives! It strengthened us. It showed us that if we believed God is a good God and we trusted Him and held on to our faith and refused to compromise, God would expand our ministry to more hurting people.
God knew our hearts, and He knew that someday I would be preaching to thousands, and even millions, of people. God knows your heart also. He knows your name. He knows your future, and He’s calling out to you, “Hold on to your faith. Don’t compromise!”
