Peter was the apostle with low self-esteem. He was the one who said to Jesus, “Although all shall be offended, yet will not I. Yet Jesus said to him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice” (Mark 14:29–30).
One of the Gospels says that when Peter looked into Caiaphas’ house where Jesus was being interrogated, as the rooster crowed, Jesus’ eyes met his (Luke 22:61). Now that was perhaps the moment of lowest self-esteem in Peter’s life. He had failed… totally failed the Son of God. Yet the good news is that Jesus forgave him. The Bible says: God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved (John 3:17).
Thank God your low self-esteem can be turned around!
James 5:13˗16 says, “Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merry? Let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed…”
Father, in the Name of Jesus, we give our low self-image to You. We put the past in the past. We ask You to take care of those things in the past that we have no control over, and we give them to You. We ask You, in Jesus’ Name, to heal our low self-esteem. Help us to realize that we are worth something to You. There is a reason that we were born. You created us in Your image, and there is something in life that You have for us to do. I pray from this moment on that you, my dear friend, will know you are valuable and you are special. I’m praying that you will be healed in your mind and in your spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
