God So Loved That He Gave

From the archives of Oral Roberts

The thief [satan] does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.—John 10:10

In this day and age, it can be so hard to comprehend God sometimes. Who can really understand God in His Majesty? He loved us before we loved Him. Many in the world don’t seem to care whether God exists or not. Many in the world don’t even believe that there is a God. They are just not interested in Him. But John 3:16 says “God so loved.” He loves this world — a world where, the Bible says, “All have sinned” (Romans 3:23).

God gave His best. He could have given any of the angels to save the world, but He didn’t give one of the angels. He gave his only begotten Son, Jesus.

This teaches us that God gave out of His needs. Does God have needs? I asked that once, and someone said, “What a brutal fact that God lost man whom He created!”  The fact is, the devil stole man away from God, and man chose to go away from God. God lost his children.

When you accept the gift of God so freely given—His only Son—you will receive everlasting life. You will be given eternal life… life after death. People are seemingly trying all kinds of ways to live “one more day.” And since people want life, remember that’s exactly what Jesus Christ came to give…full and in abundance!
