God’s in Charge

Richard Roberts

Have you ever run into circumstances that you didn’t know what to do with?  If you’re like the rest of us, I’m sure you have!

Well, I want to tell you today—God is an on-time God!  He may not come exactly when you think He should, but He’ll be there right on time.

Psalm 37:23 says the steps of a good man or woman are ordered by the Lord.  In other words, He is in charge of the path we follow.

Sometimes He even leads us on a detour through some very unusual places. I remember in Acts, chapters 27 and 28, how the apostle Paul was on a ship going to Rome and suddenly found himself taking an unexpected detour. First, he survived a shipwreck. Then he landed on an island where he was bitten by a poisonous snake, but he wasn’t harmed by the snakebite. God doesn’t always keep us from going through the trials of life, but He always brings us through them!

Now, I don’t know about you, but I’ve told God before how He should do things. I’ve told him when to do it, where to do it, and who to do it through, but He has never done it my way once! He does it His way, and let me tell you, His way works.

God may not send your answer the way you think He should, but when He does it, you’ll say, “Why didn’t I think of that?” That’s because He’s in charge and you’re not. Now, that may sound simple, but it’s simply profound. God’s always on time. He wants us to get onto His schedule and off of ours, to get off of our plan and onto His plan.

How do we do that? By surrendering our life to Him, making Him the source of our life, and loving Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (see Deuteronomy 6:5).
