From the archives of Oral Roberts
Several months ago, the Lord spoke to me in a very direct way while I was in prayer. I had my hands up as I was praying, and I was looking up. But then, the back of my neck grew tired and I put my head down. Suddenly, the Lord spoke, with the voice I’ve come to know as His. His voice filled my entire being and blocked out all other sounds as He said, “Hold your head up.”
I raised my head and continued to pray, but then my neck grew weary again, and I lowered it. He said again, “Hold your head up.” Again, I lifted my head for awhile, until my neck got sore. The third time, He said, “Hold your head up.” Seven times in all, this word came to me from the Lord and the last time He spoke, He added, “And when you walk, walk like you’re going somewhere.”
When I got home and walked into the house, Evelyn looked at me and said, “What happened to you?” I said, “What do you mean?” She said, “Look at your face. Something has happened to you.” I told her what God had said, and we rejoiced together.
This word from the Lord isn’t only for Oral Roberts. It’s for you today, too. Today is the day to “hold your head up.” As you walk through your day, walk like you’re going somewhere. The truth of the matter is you have all the reason in the world to hold your head up. You’re a child of God, a younger brother or sister of the King of kings and Lord of lords. The truth is, you are going someplace in your life. You’re bound for Heaven’s eternal glory!
Repeat these words to yourself several times today and let them sink deep into your spirit — “Hold your head up. And when you walk, walk like you’re going somewhere!”
