“I Broke My Own Rule”

Lindsay Roberts

I have a rule in my car that whatever you drink has to have a lid on it. But one day I broke my own rule. I had a soda with no lid in the car. I turned the corner and spilled it on me, the seat, the carpet…everywhere! Everything was a big mess. Why? Because I broke my own rule!

It’s the same when we break God’s rules. We get ourselves into a big mess, and we wonder, “God, where are You in this?” But God is with us all the time. He doesn’t leave us when we mess up. He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper” (Hebrews 13:5–6 NKJV). This is true no matter what!
