It Has All Been Laid Out For Us

Lindsay Roberts

One morning, my daughter had laid out my clothes for me to put on. I started to laugh, and as I looked at the clothes, she said, “I laid it all out for you.” At that instant, in my mind, I saw a picture of Jesus standing there, and He said, “So did I.”

Why are we doing without our finances, without our help, without prosperity in our families, our marriages, and in every other area of our lives? God has already laid it all out for us. There is nothing on the face of the earth He created that He could ever do for us again. It has all been laid out for us. The only reason we don’t have it is because we don’t go pick up what was laid out for us two thousand years ago at the Cross. God told us to do it! The simplest thing we can do is go and obtain what Jesus has already purchased for us.

What can I change? I can change my prayer life. I can change my environment. I can change what God called me to change. I can pray for the leadership of our nation. But do you believe that worry and sweat is going to change it one bit? No! Philippians 4:13–14 tells us, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Notwithstanding you have done well, that you did communicate with my affliction.

Paul was writing to the Philippians from a Roman jail. He said, “I have all. I abound. I am full.” How can you have everything and be full when you’re in a Roman jail? He said, Indeed, I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God” (Philippians 4:18).

Then verse 19 continues: My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus!
