Faith looks up to God who is the limitless God, who is the incomparable God, the God who scooped out the bed for the oceans, who flung the stars from His fingertips, who sculptured the mountains and hung the stars in space. Faith looks up and over the opposition and sees there is a way out. Faith believes that God is alive in the now. Faith believes He’s alive… right by your side, in your heart, in your spirit. Faith believes that God can do it — even if you haven’t believed it yet — if you can just get hold on to a little faith in your heart. You don’t have to have a whole lot — just a little bit will enable you to walk on the water. Faith is the power through which you believe God. You turn your attention away from the world and look to God. Your faith can see through impenetrable darkness. Your faith can see through a solid wall. Your faith can open deaf ears and blind eyes. Your faith can cause cancer to wither and die.
You know, it’s hard to believe in a Heaven that you can’t see. It’s hard to believe that just over the rim of your sight there is a city foursquare, whose streets are paved with gold, whose walls are jasper, whose gates are pearl — a city through which the river of life flows, and on each side is the tree of life, whose leaves are for the healing of the people of the nations.
It’s hard to believe in a miracle that you can’t explain. I asked God once what faith is, and in my spirit, He said, “Faith is when you’re supernaturally emptied of doubt, and you’re filled with a knowing so that you know that you know that you know. And in that moment of knowing, you cannot doubt.”
