When you face battles in life, God doesn’t expect you to fight them in your own strength without His help. Proverbs 3:5 says, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. If you try to figure things out and fight your battles with your own understanding, you can get into trouble. A key to success in spiritual warfare is to stay in touch with God and rely on Him in every situation.

Your position is like that of a military unit that goes into battle. Even when the enemy is attacking from all sides―sniper fire raining down and mortars blasting all around―someone in the unit is on a two-way radio checking with headquarters to find out what strategy to use to win the battle. And they follow it!

To win in spiritual battles, it’s essential for us to stay in touch with our Commander, the Lord Jesus Christ, to receive our instruction. And we don’t say, “Fine, Lord; I got that. I’ll take it from here. I’ll check back with You when the battle is over.” To do that is a guarantee of failure. As we keep listening for God’s voice every step of the way, relying on Him completely, He can lead us to a mighty victory!
