It’s important to know who your enemy is and when to go into battle. In the book of 1 Samuel chapter 30, after David discovered the town of Ziklag had been raided and the women and all who were left alive taken captive, he made his plans to attack the Amalekites carefully, striking the enemy at just the right time.
Now, of course, we don’t fight our battles with guns, spears, and bows and arrows as David did. Ours is a different kind of battle. Christianity is a spiritual war. God and the devil are fighting, and we’re caught in between. So when problems hit us, it’s really no person’s fault. It’s the devil fighting against us. If we can ever understand that it’s the devil fighting us and not people, then we won’t be so hard on those around us.
David and his men found the enemy, and they fought all night and all the next day. And verse 19 says, David recovered all!
What weapons of warfare can you use against the devil?
Your faith. One of your greatest weapons is to know that God loves you and He is going to take care of things.
Prayer. The devil doesn’t like it when you talk to God because prayer is an effective weapon against him.
The Word of God. God’s Word is full of strength and power.
The Name of Jesus. Before Jesus went back to heaven, He gave us His name to use in prayer. He said, “Whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you” (John 16:23 NKJV).
The word of your testimony. Another great weapon you can use is your testimony. Revelation 12:11 says we overcome by the blood of Jesus and the word of our testimony.
We know the enemy, we have the weapons, and we now have the power to attack!
