From the archives of Oral Roberts – Fifth of five parts
God birthed the Scripture in my heart, While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease (Genesis 8:22). And I began to preach that to the people.
One Saturday afternoon, I was preaching in a church in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. There were 1,500 people in the audience that afternoon. They came forward with money in their hands, as they had been taught that what they gave was not just money but seed unto God, their Source. Because of those people, I was able to start building Oral Roberts University and to do the work of God all over the world in 70 nations.
The third key of Seed-Faith that God showed me was to expect a miracle. Expect a miracle harvest from unexpected sources, as well as expected sources, but keep your mind on God.
I have to be careful when I preach this message because I’ve lived it so many years. I’m in such rhythm with it that I forget how difficult it was for me when I first saw it, when God first began to reveal it to me.
God showed me that money in your hand that you give to Him is really seed… and on the other end of the seed, if you plant it, is a miracle. A rejected opportunity to plant a seed is a lost opportunity to receive a miracle harvest.
Matthew 17:20 says, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
In II Corinthians 9:6–7, Paul says, He which soweth sparingly; shall reap also sparingly and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give. As you plant your seed, say, “God, I’m sowing this seed and trusting You to meet my need.” Then expect your miracle. Believe that God is going to meet your need!
