Persistence

When do you stop crying out to God for the miracle you need in your life?

Only when you have received the miracle!

Several years ago, our oldest daughter, Jordan, came to me after she had hurt her foot in the car. She said, “Mom, Pray for my foot. It hurts.”

I turned around and laid hands on her and prayed, “Father, in the Name of Jesus, I ask You to heal Jordan’s foot. Be healed in Jesus’ Name.”

Nothing happened. A few moments later, Jordan said, “Mom, pray again.”

I got a little shorter and more direct with my prayer. I said, “Father, I ask You to heal Jordan’s foot. Amen.”

Again, nothing happened, Jordan said a third time, “Mom, pray again.” This time I prayed boldly, “Be healed in Jesus’ Name!”

And Jordan said yet a fourth time, “Mom, pray again.” I said, “Jordan, how many times do you want me to pray?” She looked me straight in the eyes and said very seriously, “Until the pain stops.”

Believe me, I prayed until the pain stopped!

Jesus asked His disciples an important question one day: “Shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him?” (Luke 18:7) And then Jesus answered His own question, “I tell you that he will avenge them speedily (Luke 18:8).”

Have you asked God for a miracle that you haven’t yet received? Ask Him again! Persist in asking. Take only a miracle as your answer.
