I may not be the world’s smartest person when it comes to machines and electricity, but if something isn’t working, the first thing I do is see if the cord is plugged into the electrical power! I may have the most beautiful lamp in the world, but if I don’t plug it into the power source, I will still be in the darkness.
God is the Source of all power, and we are His lamps, chosen to be His light in a darkened world. In Matthew 5:14-15 NLT Jesus said, “You are the light of the world – like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. Don’t hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all … to see.” According to the Bible, we are all witnesses of our Lord―every one of us!
Through the power of the Holy Spirit that dwells in us, every believer is enabled to give the light and life of Jesus Christ to those who walk in darkness. What a responsibility! What a privilege!
