If you’re like me, you’re constantly busy, running here and running there, throughout the day. But Exodus 14:13 NKJV tells us to “Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.” I think that often God is trying to get the answers we need to us, but we’re so busy running around that we miss His answer that is right in front of our faces!
When you get caught up in your busyness, everyday problems can consume you like a fire consumes a house. And when you are in the middle of that hustle and bustle, you can find yourself running around inside the burning house in a panic trying to find a way out, when the exit is right where it has always been.
So how can we keep our lives from being overcome by busyness? Firefighters tell us that if our clothing catches on fire, we should remember SDR: Stop, Drop, and Roll. The same idea works to keep our lives from being controlled by a busy schedule.
Stop ― Stop what you’re doing and stand still.
Drop ― Drop down on your knees in prayer before God.
Roll ― Roll your cares over onto Jesus.
That’s a simple formula for coping with being too busy, but it’s a biblical plan that can work if you try it.
