The Safest Place to Be

Lindsay Roberts

My husband Richard’s ministry takes him all over the United States and around the world. Whenever he boards an airplane to go to faraway places, there are always possible dangers. There could be mechanical difficulties with the plane, or the country to which he’s traveling could be experiencing unrest. And for the past few years, our oldest daughter, Jordan, has begun to travel and minister with him. Even though it means she, too, may face dangerous situations, she tells me, “Mama, I have to go because God has called me.”

Knowing my concern for my loved ones, the Lord spoke to me about the situation, saying, “Lindsay, the safest place they can ever be is in the center of My will.” That made sense. The safest place any of us can be is in the center of obedience to God’s will.

Sometimes when we ask for God’s guidance, He tells us, “Not yet.” Other times He may tell us, “Now.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-5 NKJV says, To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is planted . . . a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh . . . a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing.

We may not feel comfortable with what God is calling us or our loved ones to do, but God has a time and a season for everything. God wants us to listen to His voice and go His route. Then we will be in the safest place possible—the center of His will.
