The second part of God’s promise in Malachi 3:10–11 is this: “I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes.”
The word “devourer” can be paraphrased “seed eater.” In my mind, I picture the old serpent, the devil, slithering along on his belly, his forked tongue flickering out to eat all of the seed that we’ve not sown to God.
What does it mean if the devil eats your seed? It means that God has nothing with which to produce a harvest in your life! If you don’t have seed to plant, how can you get a harvest of miracles to meet your needs?
When we give to God’s work, God rebukes the seed eater. He preserves our seed so that we can plant it and receive miracles from God. He preserves our seed so that we can plant it into work that has eternal, multiplied results for the Gospel.
What you don’t plant into the ground stays on top of the ground where the seed eater can get to it! Plant today! Don’t let your seed be devoured!
