My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:19
I heard of a woman who was always praising God for everything that she received. One day some boys tried to trick her. They put a sack of groceries on her porch and then hid around the corner of the house.
When the woman found the groceries she said, “Thank God, He has supplied my needs again.” The boys walked out and said, “No, He didn’t. We put those groceries on your porch.”
“Well, the devil may have brought them to my door,” she said to them. “But God is the One who caused you to do it.”
God uses instruments to meet our needs. But if we try to rely upon these instruments as our source we will be disappointed. God is the only Source that never fails.
I learned this great truth when, at one point in my ministry, I was struggling with some financial difficulties. God showed me that I―Oral Roberts―needed to look to Him as my Source and to think of others only as instruments. I began to catch on to what God was saying. God is our Source, not people. God is the One Who supplies all of our needs.
