The Ultimate Advantage

Richard Roberts

One of my good friends is the world-renowned, retired tennis player, and pastor, Margaret Court of Australia. Margaret won sixty-six Grand Slam events during her career ― more than any other player in history.

She told me that she won most of her matches before she ever walked onto the court because her opponents knew who they were facing and how good she was. She said, “You can call it psychological warfare if you wish, but they realized who they were coming up against, and they knew that I was going to beat them.” Then she said, “But I also knew that I was going to beat them.”

It’s a powerful advantage when you walk into a situation to know that you’re going to win. First John 5:4-5 CEV explains the advantage over the world you can claim as a believer. Every child of God can defeat the world, and our faith is what gives us this victory. No one can defeat the world without having faith in Jesus as the Son of God.

You may not think you’re a winner, but this is what the psalmist says: What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him? Yet You have made him but a little lower than God [or heavenly beings], and You have crowned him with glory and honor (Psalm 8:4-5 AMP). God created you just a little lower than the angels! He cares about you. You are somebody to Him, and with Him, you have the ultimate advantage over any trouble or trial that comes your way!
