“You sure look pretty in that dress!” I told a friend one day. “I was having one of those ‘ugly days,’ she said, and you’ve made me feel so much better!”
Every day we come in contact with people who are suffering from feelings of depression, worthlessness, and discouragement. Or perhaps they’re feeling lonely and unloved. Often just a cheerful hello, a sincere compliment, or an encouraging word is all they need to be lifted up. The Bible says: Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad (Proverbs 12:25).
