Everybody has a motivation for the things they do. When it comes to giving, each one of us has a reason that we give … or a reason that we don’t.
I have three main reasons for giving:
Number one, I give because I love God with my heart, soul, mind, and strength. I give because He first loved me …because He saved me… because He has delivered me from evil. I give out of thanksgiving for all that He has done for me.
Number two, I give because I’m commanded to give. The Bible sets up the standard of giving our tithe, or one-tenth, and our offerings to the work of God.
Number three, I give because I have needs. Jesus taught, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over” (Luke 6:38). Giving ― planting my money as well as my faith into the good soil of God’s work ― is God’s way for us to have our needs met. When I sow my seed, I am in a position for God to open up the windows of Heaven to me and pour out a blessing (see Malachi 3:10).
Are you giving your best to God today? Do you really love him? Are you grateful for all that He has done for you? Are you following God’s commandments about giving? Are you giving even though you have needs? Are you expecting God to honor your giving and to meet your needs with a pressed-down, shaken-together, and running-over supply?
I encourage you to get into God’s Word today and do what He says, and expect your miracle today!
