In the month of May in the United States, we celebrate “Memorial Day”; the day we remember the men and women who have sacrificed their lives in service for this country. This is a time when we honor them and thank God for them.
In John 15:13 Jesus told His disciples, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” He willingly walked out this love when He laid down His life for us. It seems so unbelievable that someone would sacrifice themselves in our behalf. Yet our servicemen and servicewomen do it…every day.
Although we set aside only one day each year to honor those who have died in service to our country, we honor them every day. Thank God for our servicemen and servicewomen who are willing to walk out our freedom. We need to continually pray for them and for their families and lift them up every day. Thank God for our freedom, and for the ones who have done so much to create and protect it!
Will you say this prayer with us today?
“Father, in the Name of Jesus, we pray a prayer cover over our armed forces and the leaders of our nation. We pray for them and we ask in the Name of Jesus for divine protection over all of our servicemen and servicewomen. For those who have lost loved ones serving our country, Father, we lift them up before you in the Name of Jesus. We pray for the peace that passes all human understanding to enter into their hearts and their lives. We pray a harvest into their lives for what their families have done, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
