The Battle is the Lord’s. – 1Samuel 17:47

In his lifetime, David became a seasoned warrior. But even as a young man facing the giant Goliath, David already knew some important principles for fighting battles.

First, David knew that when you stand against the forces of the devil, you must have a personal experience with God. David had walked and talked with God among the hills of Bethlehem. That prepared him for facing the giant.

The second principle David knew was that you must have a vision that God can win the victory through you. David said, “God delivered me out of the paw of the lion and the bear, and He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine” (1 Samuel 17:37).

The third qualification David knew is that you must be willing to take a personal hand in the battle. We have a work to do and we can’t let fear or doubt stand in our way.

The fourth principle David knew is that we must understand that the battle is not ours, but the Lord’s. We must do our part, but we also must let God do His part. It is God who will give us the victory.
