Your Winning Edge

The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. – Psalm 24:1

The Scripture introduces us to riches and tells us where they come from in Genesis 14. In this scene, Abraham, or Abram, was returning from battle after rescuing his nephew Lot. The king of Sodom and Melchizedek, king of Salem, came out to meet him.

The king of Sodom offered the booty from the battle to Abraham, but he refused. He said, “I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth. That I will not take…anything that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich” (Vss. 22.23).

Abraham knew what he was talking about, because Genesis 13:2 says he was “very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.” And Abraham recognized God as the Source of his wealth.

In studying the Bible, I’ve discovered that when you see, by faith, that God owns the earth and all the riches in it ― and that you are rich because you belong to God ― it puts you on the winning edge. God wants you to recognize Him as your Source and, by faith, plant your seeds and take the inheritance that is rightfully yours.
