God’s message of love, healing and deliverance
And he who is wise captures and wins souls [for God—he gathers them for eternity].
Sharing Jesus with other people is one of the most important things we can do as Christians. The answer to the world’s problems and needs are found in Jesus Christ. We, His human instruments—His mouth, hands and feet here on earth—are to offer the message of God’s love, healing, and deliverance to all who will hear and receive it.
One of the ways in which we can inspire and influence others to want a relationship with Jesus is to be a living witness for Him with our own lives. The way we live—how we speak and act…how we react when our faith is tested… when we love unconditionally…when we “walk the walk and talk the talk” so to speak—shows others that we truly have God’s love in us. And that’s how we start…by loving others…
For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: Love your neighbor as yourself (John 13:34˗35)
I’ve heard it said that no one cares what you know until they know that you care. Showing sincere concern for another’s welfare will go a lot farther than any words we could ever say in leading someone to want to know the Lord for themselves. It may seem intimidating or you may think you aren’t “spiritual enough” to share Jesus with others. But, it is just a simple conversation.
First, tell them what God has done for you. Use your personal story of God’s goodness in your own life to show them how Jesus can make a difference in theirs. Let them know that God has a wonderful plan for their lives ( John 10:10). Don’t be afraid of what you are to say. Just keep it simple and let the Holy Spirit lead you.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:16-17)
Be firm in letting them know their need for the Savior (Romans 3:23), but be compassionate also. Affirm God’s love for them, while letting them know the consequences for sin (Romans 6:23). Assure them that they don’t have to become “good enough” first…that they can come to Jesus “just as they are” (Romans 5:7˗8). Remind them that Jesus said that there is no other way to know God except through Him.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)
Encourage them to declare their newfound faith in Jesus out loud (Romans 10:9-10). Then, just lead them in a short prayer…perhaps something like this:
Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying for me so that I could know you in this life, and by accepting you, live eternally with you in heaven. I reject and put away from me all evil and I surrender my life to you. Please forgive me, cleanse me, and come into my heart. Amen.
Now, let them know that they belong to God (2 Corinthians 5:17). If they don’t already have a Bible, encourage them to get a version they can easily understand and to read it every day! Invite them to church and encourage them to find a church home, where they can regularly hear the Word of God and fellowship with other believers.
