From the archives of Oral Roberts

Whenever you begin to believe for a miracle in the life of someone you love, you’re sure to meet opposition. But don’t give up! Hold on to the vision of your loved one being saved or healed because God answers unyielding faith.

Someone held on for Saul of Tarsus, who was in Damascus shortly after his dramatic conversion. He was testifying of Jesus so boldly that the Bible says, The Jews plotted to kill him (Acts 9:23 NKJV). They watched the gates of the walled city day and night so that Saul couldn’t escape. But the Christians in Damascus helped him avoid capture. Verse 25 says, The disciples took him by night and let him down through the wall in a large basket. At great personal danger to themselves, they held the rope that freed the man who became the great apostle Paul.

The men holding the rope for Saul that night were the only ones in the city who held the rope for the escape. You may be thinking, Oral Roberts, I’ve held the rope so long for my loved ones. It gets so lonely, and the burden is so heavy! I just don’t know if I can hold the rope any longer.

Don’t give up now! You may be the only one in the world holding that particular rope. And you don’t know how great a person is on the end of your rope―that child, that son or daughter; that loved one you’re praying for. As you lift them up in prayer, you don’t know what your prayer is going to mean. If you’re discouraged and feel like you want to quit, hold on a little longer. Keep believing. Your miracle may be on the way!
