The Bible makes three assumptions about your faith:
- You have faith. Romans 12:3 NKJV says, God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
- God expects you to grow in faith. The Bible describes this growing process for your faith: To each one of us grace was given…. That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ (Ephesians 4:7,14-15 NKJV). We shouldn’t ever think that we have developed all of our faith. Instead, we should always be growing in faith!
- Jesus expects you to use your faith. When the disciples were with Jesus on the Sea of Galilee and a storm began to rage, they immediately turned to Jesus, woke Him, and cried, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm (Matthew 8:25-26 NKJV). In Luke’s version, Jesus says, “Where is your faith?” (Luke 8:25 NKJV). Jesus knew the disciples had faith, and He expected them to use their faith to get their needs met.
We don’t have to wait for God to give us faith because it has already been given to us. But it is up to us to keep our faith growing and developing into stronger faith, and we do that by using our faith, believing God and His Word. Today, stretch forth your faith to God in all that you do, and strive to grow and use your faith each and every day.
