Have the roots {of your being] firmly and deeply planted [in Christ] – fixed and founded in HIM – being continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith. (Colossians 2:7 AMP)
My sister and her husband have a vegetable garden on their small acreage. Recently she was telling me about all the vegetables she had canned and frozen this past summer. “But we didn’t have any corn this year,” she said. “We planted corn and it was off to a good start, but a strong wind blew the stalks over. Their root system wasn’t sufficient to hold them up.”
I said, “Ruth, some people have the same problem. They don’t have a root system that is strong enough to keep them standing tall and straight when the storms of life come against them.”
When the roots of our lives are firmly and deeply planted in Jesus, absolutely nothing can destroy us! Though the storms of life come at us from every side, God’s Word assures us, “The root of the righteous shall not be moved” (Proverbs 12:3).
