Many years ago my in-laws, Oral and Evelyn Roberts, were involved in a car accident. Although they were not injured physically, Evelyn was upset. I tried to comfort her by saying, “It was only a car, and a car can be replaced. But we can’t replace you.”
She replied, “But I was carrying such precious cargo!” referring to Oral. Evelyn knew the value of her husband, whom she loved and who served God with all of his heart. His life and ministry was a blessing to the world.
That incident reminded me of just how much God loves and treasures each one of us. He loves us with an unconditional love. John 3:16 AMP expressed that love so well:
God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only-begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.
When you get to feeling down and discouraged, questioning your self- worth, remember how special you are to God. You are His precious, priceless treasure!
