“Irregular Seed-Planter”

From the archives of Oral Roberts

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. – Luke 6:38

Papa was a preacher, and when I was growing up he planted seed (gave tithes and offerings) irregularly. And irregular, inconsistent planting makes everything irregular…your receiving, as well as your giving.

The night I got saved I began to plant seed. Even though the full revelation of Seed-Faith didn’t come until later, I knew subconsciously that something good would happen if I gave to God. During the five months I had been bedfast with tuberculosis, I had accumulated $15 that people had given me. I took $1.50 of that money and said, “Papa, put this in the church offering.” And I’ve tithed and given offerings of every dollar God has given me since.

Then Papa became a “regular seed-planter” because of me. And what a difference it made! When Papa gave to God irregularly, our family lived in two rented rooms and was nearly starving to death. But before Papa died, through his “regular seed-planting,” he owned his own home debt-free, had a brand-new car paid for, and was receiving more invitations to preach than he could fill. God blesses the regular seed-planter.
