Isn’t it good to know that when you cry out to the Lord, He hears your prayer? Now there have been times in my life when I have literally cried out with tears to the Lord. And every once in a while, a good boo-hoo cry makes you feel better. But there is a different kind of cry…a cry of faith, a battle cry for victory…that gets results!
Mark 10 tells us that’s the kind of cry Jesus heard from a blind man named Bartimaeus. As Bartimaeus sat by the road begging, he heard that Jesus was passing by, and he began to cry out, “Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me” (v. 47). It wasn’t a boo-hoo cry; it was a cry of faith! It was a cry that stopped Jesus in His tracks and caused Him to say, “Bring him to Me.” Then Jesus asked him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” Bartimaeus had something specific in mind! He told the Lord he wanted to receive his sight, and he left that place with a miracle. He could see!
Notice that Bartimaeus answered Jesus’ question specifically. He said, “Lord, I want to receive my sight.” That was his faith talking!
What do you want from Jesus today? I believe the Lord is saying, “What do you want from Me? Stop beating around the bush and get to the key issue.” When you cry out to God in faith, He hears you. Get specific with Him, just like Bartimaeus did, and ask Him for whatever you need in your life. When you focus in on Jesus, that’s when miracles begin to happen! Jesus recognized the cry of faith, and He said to Bartimaeus, “Go your way. Your faith has made you whole!”
