David had only a slingshot in his hands when he fought the giant, Goliath… but he was good with that slingshot! When David was given permission by Saul to fight the mighty Goliath, he chose not to use Saul’s armor, but instead use his slingshot and his faith. He killed the mighty giant by using what he had in his hands. (See 1 Samuel 17:32 –51.)
The widow of Zarephath had only a handful of meal in a barrel and a little cruse of oil in her hand, and she fed the prophet Elijah with it. Her meal barrel and cruse of oil did not diminish, although she probably cooked an estimated 1,000 meals before it rained again! God sustained her life, as 1 Kings 17:13-14 tells us: And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’ ”
John 6: 5–13 tells us the story of the boy who had five loaves and two fish and gave to Jesus what he had in his hands to feed the multitude. And the Bible says that 12 baskets-full remained after they had eaten!
The anointing was on David and the widow of Zarephath. The anointing was on the little boy who, in obedience, was giving his lunch to Jesus. And the anointing was on Jesus as He broke it and multiplied it and fed the thousands. And miracles happened!
What is in your hands? Whatever you do on this earth, do it as unto the Lord. And let God take your best and use it…for your miracle and His glory.
