Your Priority: “Your Soul”

Richard RobertsFourth of four parts

A man once charged his servant to take care of two things for him while he was away on a trip: his child, and his child’s clothing. The man went on his trip and upon his return, he immediately went to the servant for a report. The servant said, “Here are your son’s clothes. They’re washed, ironed, pressed, neatly folded and stacked.”

“And what about by son?” the man asked.

The servant replied, “Alas, while I was working on the clothes, he wandered away and is lost.”

Many people today are concentrating on the things of their life that won’t last, and that won’t matter once they enter eternity.

Jesus asked the pivotal question for all the ages, “What is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul (Matthew 16:26)?”

Are you exchanging something for your soul today? Is the life of your soul the most important thing in your life ― your top priority, the number one item on your agenda, the first slot of your daily schedule?

I believe that the devil will do everything within his power to convince you that you don’t have a soul… that Heaven doesn’t exist… that you aren’t responsible for making a choice about your soul or, if you are, that your choice doesn’t make any difference in where you spend eternity. The devil will do everything possible to get your priorities so out of order that you won’t even think about your soul. The devil will make every effort to steal your soul and claim it as his own. But I say in Jesus’ Name, don’t let him do it! Give your entire being over to God today.
