Love Responds Lovingly

The Bible tells us in I John 4:7 NKJV, Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God. It’s easy to love someone who’s loveable. I don’t know about you, but I know some people who make walking in love hard! However, the good news is that we don’t have to love the unlovable in our own strength. Romans 5:5 NKJV says, The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. So we can draw on the love of God that came to live in us when we were born again.

We are able to love because we have been loved by God. First John 4:9 NKJV goes on to say, In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. He loved us so much that He sent Jesus to die for us, and we can love people through Him!

The love of God that’s in us can cause us to respond lovingly to others if we let it. When we think of it like that, love is more than a good feeling. It’s not an option. It is supposed to be demonstrated. Love is an act of our will.

God is love, and the closer you get to God through His word and through a relationship with Him, the closer you get to love. And the closer you get to love, the more you can let that love flow through you―even to those who are hard to love. It’s all about establishing a relationship with God.
