From the archives of Oral Roberts – First of four parts
When I was a little boy, I picked cotton. In fact, I was out of school the first six weeks of every year for four or five years, picking cotton with my family in order to have enough money to buy clothes and to help with the grocery staples for the winter.
I remember the first time I went out to a cotton field in anticipation of picking cotton. I looked at the field and came back and said to Papa, “There’s no cotton there. It’s still in the boll.” And Papa just nodded.
The next morning, we got up and Papa grabbed his cotton sack, so we all grabbed ours. I said, “Where are we going, Papa? He said, “Today we’re going to pick cotton.” And we got in our little truck and drove over to that same field. Overnight, the cotton bolls had opened up and before us, there were a hundred and some acres of cotton ready for us to pick. The cotton bolls had finally come to their due harvest season, with a sudden “popping open.”
Galatians 6:9 tells us not to be weary in our sowing of good seeds, “for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” When that due season comes, there’s a bursting of energy to it! There’s a readiness…a ripeness…a fullness of time.
Have you sown seeds of faith? Then the Bible says there’s a harvest to come. Look for it to BURST forth in your life and reap!
